23 Years Later: The Lasting Power of Printed Portraits

23 years ago, I had the honor of photographing this beautiful wedding. Yesterday, when the CMH girls rugby team came into the studio for their banner portraits, the mom who organized it recognized me as her wedding photographer! Unbelievable after all these years! She then texted me these....a portrait from their wedding, still framed and proudly displayed in their home, AND an engagement portrait we had done either earlier that year or the summer before!

Seeing it again stopped me in my tracks! I immediately remembered every detail of their day! Not only does it hold such meaningful memories, but the photograph itself has stood the test of time. The quality, the detail, the emotion....it's all still there, exactly how it was the day I clicked the shutter.

And here's something that makes it even more special....this was photographed on film. There was no screen on the back of my camera to double-check settings or peek at the results. I had to trust my craft, my light, my exposure, my instincts, and my knowledge. That's the mark of being a professional, knowing, not guessing, and it's why this portrait remains as sound today as it was back then.

This is also why printing your portraits matters! A digital file can get misplaced, forgotten, deleted, or left behind on a device that no longer works. But a printed portrait? It becomes part of your family's story. It's there for you every day, to walk past, to smile at, to treasure. Even decades later, it still carries the same beauty and impact!

Your memories deserve more than a screen. They deserve a place in your home, where they'll live for generations!
