Cyanotypes are the oldest practical photographic printing process still in use today. Discovered in 1842, cyanotypes helped lay the foundation for photography as we know it. During your Blue Hour Experience, you'll create your own photographic prints using light, water, and one of photography's most historic techniques!

CREATE

Begin by mixing two simple solutions that become a light-sensitive emulsion when combined. Brush the magic onto your watercolor paper. As it dries, explore our collection of botanicals, objects, and photographic transparencies to create a design that is uniquely yours.

EXPOSE

Place your finished design beneath our custom UV lights and watch science become art! In just a few minutes, invisible light transforms the light-sensitive emulsion, capturing the design you brushed on or carefully arranged. This is the moment your artwork comes to life!

Your artwork's journey continues in its first water bath. As the unused solution washes away, the hidden image slowly starts to emerge. It's the first glimpse of what's been waiting beneath the surface....and the most magical moment is still to come. Trust us...the best part is still ahead!

Your Blue Hour Experience lasts approximately two hours and is designed for small groups in my Waukesha photography studio. Together, we'll explore the magic of the one of the oldest known photographic printing processes, creating beautiful cyanotype prints using light itself. Every step is guided and all materials are provided. No artistic experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity, your favorite people, and get ready to create something beautiful.

Your investment: $75 per person. Your experience includes two hours of guided instruction, all premium materials, and two handcrafted cyanotype prints to create and take home.
